Kamas is a small city located in eastern Summit County, Utah. The main industries of this small town are cattle ranching and tourism, but the town is best known as "The Gateway to the Uintas".

The Uintas, unlike most other ranges in the US, run east-west. Steep Canyons and rugged mountain peaks dominate the National Forest lands. This easily-accessible, close-to-home forest attracts urban visitors with breathtaking views, beautiful campground and picnic facilities, and an extensive trail system. The fishing, camping, hiking, mountain climbing and other outdoor recreational activities are popular among locals as well as tourists. Probably best known is the scenic Mirror Lake Highway (UT 150), which allows a visitor access to numerous trailheads, campgrounds, and snowmobile and cross-country ski trails. A trip along this 55 mile long highway follows the Provo River with its several vantage points before reaching Hayden Pass at about 10,300 feet. From there, the highway follows the Bear River drainage on to the Wyoming border and nearby Evanston, WY.

Settled by pioneers at the mouth of Beaver Creek in 1857, this fast-growing community has much to offer visitors and locals alike.
